The award-winning video game Sea of Stars has had over 4 million players since its release.

Recently, developer Sabotage Studio announced that Sea of Stars, an RPG, has amassed over 4 million players since its launch. The game won Best Independent Game at the Game Awards 2023 earlier this month. Launched back in August, Sea of Stars is free for users of PlayStation Plus’ Extra and Premium plans, Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and PlayStation. It can be played on PlayStation 4, Xbox, Switch, and PC.

Sabotage won Best Indie Game at the Golden Joysticks, and the British Academy Film and Television Awards named it one of the greatest games of 2023, in addition to Sea of Stars’ TGA victory.

Thierry Boulanger, the game director for Sea of Stars and co-founder of Sabotage, states in a press release, “Sea of Stars is the game of my dreams, and seeing its quest resonate so strongly with players and critics means the world to everyone at Sabotage.” The group behind Sea of Stars, with their unmatched talent and dedication, surpasses any group I could have ever imagined working with. As we prepare to release Throes of the Watchmaker, the upcoming DLC for Sea of Stars, their genius is a constant reminder.

“For fans to have recognised our adventure in such an incredibly prosperous year for RPGs alongside new arrivals from the genre’s biggest franchises, we simply cannot thank you enough for supporting us, and we can’t wait to show you what’s next for Sea of Stars.”

Recent developments regarding Sea of Stars include the release of the soundtrack on streaming services, which includes guest compositions by renowned Chrono Trigger composer Yasunori Mitsuda. There are songs from Sea of Stars in daytime, nighttime, and pirate versions.
